Letitia James, the attorney general of New York, said in a court filing Friday that former President Donald Trump’s net worth was significantly higher than previously reported by the state’s attorney general’s office.
James cited an analysis of the former president’s net worth by a team of valuation and accounting specialists, who found that Trump’s net worth for any given year from 2011 to 2021 was significantly higher than the state’s initial figure of $3.7 billion, at $3.9 billion.
The new allegations were included in a motion to oppose Trump’s motion for summary judgment in the prosecutor’s massive civil fraud suit. The suit, filed in September 2022, seeks $250 million in compensatory and punitive damages.
The suit claims that the former President, his adult sons, and his businesses conspired for years to deceive banks and insurance companies in order to obtain favorable loan terms.
